We know that Vladimir Putin is often referred to as a “Master Chess Player” on the world stage. In chess, the objective is to declare “check mate” against the opponent where the opponent has no room to move. From a human perspective, who is Russia trying to ‘check mate’ by being specifically in Syria? The West? The US? Israel? China? All the above?
