Sam Rohrer, President of the American Pastors Network, will be a part of the National Solemn Assembly event, “The Gathering,” in Southlake, Texas, on Sept. 21. He will join a host of internationally known leaders who will come together for corporate prayer for the country’s leaders, families, churches and communities, as well as to encourage repentance and the pursuit of God throughout America.
According to the event website, “The Gathering is the body of Christ coming together one day to unite across racial, denominational and generational lines, lifting up the name of Jesus and taking responsibility for the condition of our nation. No personality, denomination or organization will be promoted.”
“People who are diverse yet have much in common are coming together for The Gathering in an effort to unite our country in prayer,” Rohrer said. “As a pastors network, we are directly in the middle of the most important issues across the country. We encourage pastors to pray for the nation from the pulpit and lead the members of their congregations to be godly in their commitment to their communities.”
The Gathering consists of two separate events: the National Solemn Assembly Leaders’ Event from noon to 3 p.m. CT Sept. 21, and the National Solemn Assembly that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. CT. Guests can attend one or both events in person for free at Gateway Church, 700 Blessed Way, Southlake, Texas, or via live-stream online.
Rohrer will be featured in the 1:20 to 2:05 p.m. CT session, titled “Repentance & Pursuit of God in Four Spheres,” where four pairs of speakers will address four topics from Psalm 128. Rohrer will leader a congregational prayer focusing on community.
Besides Rohrer, speakers include: David and Jason Benham, bestselling authors and speakers; Dr. Tony Evans, evangelical leader and speaker; Dr. Jack Graham, pastor and author; Richard Land, evangelical leader and president of Southern Evangelical Seminary; Anne Graham Lotz, evangelist and daughter of Billy Graham; Max Lucado, pastor and author; Winfred Neely, minister and professor at Moody Bible Institute; Les Steckel, president of Fellowship of Christian Athletes; and Lysa TerKeurst, author and head of Proverbs 31 Ministries for women; among others.
The Gathering is also offering several online resources, which include a 21-day devotional, facilitator’s kit and a document on prayer and fasting in the life of the pastor. Learn more at thegathering2016.com.

One Nation, Under God
/0 Comments/in Stand in the Gap Weekend /by News RoomWhy is it important that our nation be unified under one constitution, one flag, one national motto, and so on? What is it about these things-and the principles and foundation behind them-that makes us stronger? The Bible makes it clear that “Every kingdom divided against itself will be brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand” (Matthew 12:25). As the sword of truth continues to divide our nation-further driving a wedge between the light and the darkness, what should our response be?
