Can We Know if God’s Judgment Is on America?

As I crisscross this nation and interface with pastors and Christian leaders, it’s apparent that crippling paralysis and impotence grip most Christians as well as the Church at large in America. When our pulpits should be flaming with the preaching of righteousness, repentance, and God’s anger with personal and national sin, most are silent. Instead of calling attention to God’s judgment, many pastors deny that we can even know if God is judging America. Seeking ‘comfort’ rather than ‘engagement,’ most pastors are inadvertently contributing to the destruction of our nation by infusing their people with lethargy rather than with an urgency for righteous living.

This paralysis exists in part because leading pastors and church leaders are not certain themselves if God’s judgment is on America or if anyone can or should legitimately declare what God is doing or not doing. Some well-known pastors recently declared this position, with one even telling me directly that 2 Chron. 7:14, which speaks to the issue of national judgment, is not for America or any nation today. They’ve actually said that to speak of the certainty of judgment, to offer the requirements for repentance, and to tell of God’s promise to ‘hear our prayer, forgive our sins, and heal our land’ is to offer a fraudulent hope!

I contend that claiming we cannot know if God’s judgment is on our nation is but a feeble attempt to justify the failure of pastors convincingly to preach on the reality of sin, God’s anger with sin, His holiness, and the need for repentance. The cost of not preaching on the reality of God’s judgment is great. The failure to preach on the need for repentance now will guarantee God’s final judgment on America.  I contend that if we can recognize God’s blessing on our nation, we can with as much certainty know when His hand of judgment is on us. In the next few posts, I will identify the seven marks of national judgment that precipitated God’s answer to King Solomon in 2 Chron. 7:14. The correlations to America are undeniable.

No Moral Justification for Proposed Online Gambling and Casino Changes

PHILADELPHIA—The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has a budget shortfall, and some officials are considering sacrificing the best long-term interests of the citizens on the altar of short-term convenience  by turning to online gambling to generate revenue. And this is the best solution for Pennsylvania?

In response to a report on gambling revenue, Pennsylvania legislators are considering authorizing online gambling in the state. To make gambling more appealing, the report also suggests allowing gamblers to get credit card cash advances on the casino floor, eliminating the $2,500 ceiling on check cashing and ending the ban on cashing third-party checks.

Pennsylvania Pastors Network (PPN, www.papastors.net) says legalizing online gambling and changing casino policies to generate revenue is a risky move that will hurt already-struggling Pennsylvanians.

“Budget shortfalls are properly addressed by reducing spending or increasing taxes, neither of which is popular,” said Pennsylvania Pastors Network President Sam Rohrer, also President of the American Pastors Network (APN, www.AmericanPastorsNetwork.net).  “It is sad that in a culture desperate for moral leadership, our Governor and legislative leaders would seriously consider expanded gambling to ‘fix’ the current financial need.  By its very nature, gambling preys on the vulnerable, the elderly and those who are desperate enough to risk losing what they can’t afford. We at the Pennsylvania Pastors Network call on our Governor and legislative leaders to resist the temptation to cowardly pursue the unethical path of expanded gambling that benefits only special interests and transient, short-term political gains.

“Pennsylvania’s rich heritage did not come through rolling the dice in hopes of a better future, and the solution to our state’s fiscal woes won’t come through luck, either. We urge our lawmakers to stop this online gambling initiative before it starts. Fix our budgetary problems for the long-term. Don’t contribute to the problems of thousands of citizens while also creating new problems. Expanded gambling is bad for Pennsylvanians and bad for Pennsylvania.”

According to Philly.com, Senate President Joseph B. Scarnati (R., Jefferson) sponsored a resolution in December directing the Legislative Budget and Finance Committee to look at casino gambling in the state in light of significant budget deficits.

Scarnati said Pennsylvania is facing increased competition from casinos in neighboring states, but headlines show that gambling hasn’t solved money problems elsewhere either. For example, New Jersey introduced Internet gambling in November, but revenues have been far below predicted levels. Likewise, Atlantic City has also seen a 40 percent decline in gambling revenues, albeit because of other economic issues.

The report, prepared by Econsult Solutions Inc., of Philadelphia, said that Internet gambling in Pennsylvania could bring up to $68 million in tax revenue in year one and as much as $110 million per year after that.

President of PA Pastors’ Network Urging Pastors in PA and Nationwide to Speak Out Against Tyranny of HHS Mandate

Sam Rohrer States: First Amendment Rights of Bible-Believing Christians Utterly Disregarded–Why Not Respect Christians’ Beliefs?

Aug 20, 2013

PHILADELPHIA – Sam Rohrer, president of the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network (PPN,http://www.papastors.net ), is urging pastors to be bold and courageous and to speak out against the tyranny of President Obama’s administration. The looming employer mandate that the Health and Human Services Department has issued across the board to corporations, ignores the religious beliefs of millions of Americans who claim to be Christians and hold fast to the tenets of the Bible. These millions believe that abortion, or anything that supports or makes abortion easier, is forbidden. The mandate causes grave concern for many faith-based employers and Rohrer is calling on the Church to step up and actively oppose what the government is trying to impose.

Rohrer reminds pastors, “In I Kings 18, King Ahab accused Elijah the Prophet of being the source of trouble for Israel. Elijah boldly confronted the King with the Truth when he declared that it was not him or God that was the problem, rather it was the wickedness and the evil of the King and his administration that was troubling the nation. So it is today when the Obama administration seeks to advance laws that directly attack the commands of God and then attacks those who oppose these laws. The HHS mandate that forces all employer-based insurance plans, including religious businesses and universities, charities, and non-profits, to provide abortion-inducing drug coverage in their group health insurance plans, regardless of their own religious convictions on the issue of the sanctity of human life is one such egregious law that not only fits the definition of tyranny but demands a response from those who trust in God and believe that no man or government can usurp the moral Law of God.”

Rohrer continues, “There are a lot of issues in policy-making that can be classified as gray areas, where people can simply disagree about what is best or right for themselves and each other. The sanctity of life is not one of them. Life is from God the Creator. It is a gift and a leading purpose of government is to protect life – all life. When any government rejects their God-given duty and uses their power to take life, they have crossed the line. When they use their power to force Christians and others to violate God’s commands this is tyranny and must be opposed. By forcing what Christians believe to be an evil on all Christians who fear God and hold to a Biblical worldview, and especially to Christian employers, by trying to force them to provide something that violates God’s commands and their very conscience, President Obama is guilty of calling ‘evil good, and good evil.’ The fact that few people in the mainstream media or this administration seem to care about the severity of this issue in the mind and heart of Christians with Biblical worldviews is creating trouble in our land. They may as well be telling us to kill a full-grown adult – that would be unthinkable to anyone and that is how offensive abortion is to us. To be coerced to violate God’s law and our Constitutionally-guaranteed First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution cannot be taken lightly.”

Rohrer urges pastors to not shy away from this issue. “The insurgence of tyranny and the stripping away of our religious freedoms and rights in this country is not going to stop unless Christians, and in particular, pastors, stand up and start demanding moral duty to God and Constitutional accountability from our Congressional leaders. Too many of us have been sitting back and quietly watching the steady encroachment of tyrannical evil upon us, and then we wonder why our culture is unraveling at the seams. It’s unraveling because those who call themselves Bible-believing pastors are not leading with boldness and courage on these issues.”

A growing number of activists and policy-makers are joining forces in an attempt to defund President Obama’s signature law, Obamacare, which would force taxpayers to fund abortion coverage across the board. However, even if those efforts are successful, the HHS mandate would not be affected because it is part of an executive order administered under the department of Health and Human Services, and is not a direct part of Obamacare.

PA Pastors Network: Being Quiet about the Truth Won’t Work – Morality, Religious Freedom Too Precious

PHILADELPHIA – Corruption and scandals have become almost commonplace in Washington’s corridors. Most Americans, however, seem little affected by the news reports streaming out of our nation’s capitol.

Sam Rohrer, President of Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network (PPN, www.papastors.net), is calling on pastors to boldly preach the truth of God’s Word, even in a culture that has become decidedly, and even proudly, post-modern.

Rohrer reminds people, “Jeremiah the prophet said, ‘When I rebuked the people because of their sins, they ridiculed God and made fun of me. So, I said, I won’t talk of God any longer – but I couldn’t stand being quiet because God’s word became a burning fire shut up in my bones. So, I spoke more boldly of the Lord because He was with me.’”

As our nation’s courts strike down more and more laws in a fully embraced confirmation of our culture’s endorsement of a post-modern view of morality such as legalized homosexual marriage, euthanasia, and abortion, Rohrer and others see this as a continuing and direct assault on the Truth of God’s Word, as well as a direct threat to religious freedom for all.

Rohrer is urging pastors to be clear and unapologetic on the entire range of Biblical Truth as it speaks to all areas of culture and public policy. This certainly includes the currently controversial issues such as marriage and the sanctity of all human life, but also includes the issues of taxation, spending, healthcare, the role of government, and increasingly the tyrannical behavior of many in public office and how Christians should think and act about these issues in light of Scripture, liberty and our Constitutional form of government.

Rohrer urges pastors, “Speak boldly for God and His Truth. In the days of Jeremiah, the culture had forgotten the Lord. The people had walked away from His Word and become idolatrous and greedy. What we see happening all around us today is nothing new – not even the ‘new morality’ people are embracing. This is not about being progressive or more intelligent. In fact, it is just a backward spiraling into the chaos and lawlessness that history has seen repeated many times over. Every time people deny the truth of God, corruption and lawlessness follows.”

A survey conducted earlier this year in Pennsylvania revealed that a growing number of pastors – up to 20% of even self-proclaimed evangelical pastors – don’t view God’s Word to be the final moral authority and the definitive source of truth, and therefore won’t preach it as such.

Rohrer states, “Too many self-proclaimed Christians seem to feel the need to apologize for what God’s Word says is true. Christians needn’t apologize for God. In fact, they dare not. If God’s people, who call themselves by His name, won’t uphold His Truth clearly, simply, and boldly, then they become participants in the hiding of God’s truth and actually encourage the judgment of God on our nation and the loss of our Constitutionally-guaranteed freedoms. ”

Pa. Governor Corbett Properly Moves to Halt Public Official from Violating Pa. Marriage Law

PHILADELPHIA – Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network (PPN, www.papastors.net) is encouraged that the Corbett administration has taken action in Commonwealth Court to halt the official breaking of Pennsylvania state law, that recognizes marriage law between one man and one woman, by the Montgomery County register of wills who was issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Since mid-July, when Attorney General Kathleen Kane called the state’s law banning homosexual marriage unconstitutional, Register of Wills D. Bruce Hanes has illegally issued 34 licenses to homosexual couples.

Sam Rohrer, President of the Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network says, “I am encouraged by Governor Corbett’s decision to use his authority to stop the intentional breaking of law by a local elected official. As I and others stated in our July 17 press conference at the Pennsylvania State Capitol, Attorney General Kane’s public refusal to uphold her oath of office and defend the State’s Marriage Law would encourage greater lawlessness. The actions of Register of Wills, Hanes is but the first example. Governor Corbett is justified to use his authority to seek the compliance with the law as the Constitution demands and he is appropriately and lawfully also defending natural marriage between one man and one woman.

“Pennsylvania’s DOMA clearly states that marriage in Pennsylvania is the union of one man and one woman. When two elected officials (Kane and Hanes) or any other, think that they can act above the law, demonstrate political tyranny and encourage lawlessness, it is critical that the citizens know that they will be held accountable to the law by others in elected office who share the responsibility to ensure that law is upheld by all in public office. We are encouraging all elected officials to heed the example, in this instance that Governor Corbett has displayed. The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network urges pastors to earnestly preach the Absolute Truth of God’s Word and to teach that civil freedom can only survive when people self-govern their own actions according to the Commands of God.”

Elected Officials Breaking the Law Encourages Rampant Lawlessness

PHILADELPHIA – Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network (PPN, www.papastors.net) is urging pastors across Pennsylvania to speak out against the increasing tendency among executive and judicial branches of government, both state and federal, to ignore Constitutionally enacted laws, instead imposing their own will upon the people who elected them. It has already happened twice in Pennsylvania in the last two weeks.

The Montgomery County register of wills, D. Bruce Hanes, is following state Attorney General Kathleen Kane’s actions, who has refused to defend the state law against a federal lawsuit, and the Obama administration, which declined to defend the federal Defense of Marriage Act. Hanes has decided to violate the Pennsylvania law that bans same-sex marriages across the Commonwealth.

According to Philly.com, Hanes’ decision could have statewide implications, bringing gay and lesbian Pennsylvanians to Norristown for licenses that could then be used for weddings anywhere in the state.
The legality of those licenses would remain in question, however. Under Pennsylvania law, the recognition of marriage is restricted to one man and one woman.

Sam Rohrer, President of the Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network says, “I am greatly concerned for the very pillars of law underpinning our Republic. I see a dangerously developing trend when in just the past four years, most notably when the California State Executive Branch , the U.S. Supreme Court, Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kane, and now, Montgomery County Register of Wills, D. Bruce Hanes, arbitrarily decide to simply ignore or override the will of the people in regard to their Constitutional obligations. It is likely not coincidental that this move into lawlessness is tied directly, in these examples, to a direct attack on the family and religious freedom in America. A defiance of Constitutionally-passed civil law starts with a defiance of God’s Moral Laws.”

According to Rohrer, Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane acted unconstitutionally when she openly refused to uphold her oath of office to defend Pennsylvania state law. Just recently, Kane, who is an open supporter of homosexual rights activists, stated that she could not and would not defend Pennsylvania’s Defense of marriage Act, which was enacted by large margins in the state legislature in 1996.

Rohrer adds, “When elected officials, whether state or federal, are no longer held accountable to the respective Constitutions to which they are sworn, and under which their very offices are created, then political anarchy and lawlessness are assured. We are encouraging pastors everywhere to earnestly preach the Absolute Truth of God’s Word and to teach that civil freedom can only survive when people do as William Penn made clear right here in Pennsylvania – self govern their own actions according to the Commands of God. Obedience to the law with accountability to the people and to God is essential for limited government to survive. The answers to our problems are not political. They are in every way spiritual and that starts with recognizing the Absolute Truth of God’s Word. When the law and oaths of office are cavalierly discarded for passing considerations, all of our guaranteed rights are threatened.”

In her statement, Kane claimed ethical reasons for refusing to uphold her sworn duties. Hanes also expressed his personal ethics and his conflict with not issuing same-sex marriage licenses to those who now request them.

Rohrer points out, “If one cannot ethically defend the Biblical and historical definition of Natural Marriage as being between one man and one woman, then it is legitimate to question the source these ‘ethics.’ Kane’s definition of ethics stands in clear and direct contrast to a Biblical standard of right and wrong. Kane’s view reflects that of popular culture, which states that there is no absolute truth, that right and wrong are relative, that there is no moral compass and therefore no God to whom we will give an account. What is right today is wrong tomorrow, and vice versa. It is this Post-Modern view that is in conflict with, and is undermining, the Rule of law, our Constitution, self-government and our very freedoms. It is this view that empowered Bruce Hanes to act out of order.”

Rohrer concludes, “I believe that unless this distinction is acknowledged and there is a return to the concept of ethics and morality as defined by God in His Word, which provides an absolute, universal standard by which to judge right and wrong, we will lose the freedoms we have so long enjoyed and which are reflected in our Declaration of Independence and our PA and US Constitutions.”

Sam Rohrer, President, PA Pastors’ Network: Pennsylvania Must Stand Firm to Uphold the Law and Protect Marriage

PHILADELPHIA – Sam Rohrer, president of the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network (PPN, www.papastors.net), is urging Bible-believing pastors and lay people who honor natural marriage in the state of Pennsylvania to stand firm for marriage, family, and freedom. Rohrer and members of the PPN Leadership Council, accompanied by State Representatives Gordon Denlinger (R-Lancaster) and Tim Krieger (R-Westmoreland), held a press conference last week at the State Capitol to denounce Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane and her recent announcement to refuse to defend the Pennsylvania law that protects marriage between one man and one woman.

Rohrer warns that Kane’s refusal to defend the PA marriage law she is sworn to uphold because she feels that law is ‘wholly unconstitutional,’ is a violation of her Constitutional oath and cannot be overlooked.

Rohrer states, “Upon the adoption of the US Constitution, Ben Franklin said, “…we’ve given you a republic – if you can keep it.” Freedom is often lost because the people grow lazy and give it up, or those in office forsake their oath and attempt to usurp civil liberty by placing themselves above the law. This current action by the AG while encouraged by some should be abhorred by all since it fits the definition of tyranny and threatens the liberty of all. If there is no change to this decision and other similar refusals by Executive Branch officials around the nation, our freedom and our very Republic are threatened.”

In 1996, the Pennsylvania legislature enacted, by large margins, the state’s own Defense of Marriage Act, which declares that marriage in Pennsylvania is the legally enacted union between one man and one woman. Rohrer went on to say, “In addition to violating her oath, AG Kane stated that she cannot ‘ethically’ defend the lawful and historical definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman. If one cannot ethically defend the biblical and historical definition of marriage as being between one man and one woman then it is legitimate to question the source of these ‘ethics.’ The definition of ethics means, ‘a system of moral principles.’ By definition, moral refers to ‘what is right and wrong … and has reference to the law of God as the standard.’ Therefore, one’s view of right and wrong determines how a person thinks, acts, and chooses. The common view in our culture is that there is no absolute truth, that right and wrong are relative, that there is no more moral compass and therefore no God to whom we will give an account. It is this view that is in conflict with and is undermining the Rule of Law, our Constitution, self-discipline and our very freedoms and threatens William Penn’s Holy Experiment. I believe that unless this distinction is acknowledged and there is a return to the concept of ethics and morality as defined by God in His Word, we will lose the freedoms we have so long enjoyed and which are reflected in our Declaration of Independence and our PA and US Constitutions.
Kane is an open supporter of gay marriage, and as the lawsuit filed by the ACLU on behalf of 23 people is brought before the state, Kane is clearly at odds with state law and would be posing a clear conflict of interest if she were to represent the state of PA.

Her announcement is just one more in a recent string of examples of public officials who are actively refuting their sworn responsibilities as public servants. Instead, they are seeing their political offices as platforms from which they can impose their personal beliefs on the public at large as they attempt to side-step due Constitutional process. That Pennsylvania’s Attorney General Kathleen Kane openly supports gay marriage is no surprise; what is troubling is that she has found the recent SCOTUS decision a convenient ally and scapegoat for her decision to abandon her constitutional duty to uphold and defend the laws of the Commonwealth state.

Rohrer adds to his concerns, “When elected officials, whether state or federal, are no longer held accountable to the respective Constitutions to which they are sworn, and under which their very offices are created, then political anarchy and lawlessness are guaranteed. The question which remains is, how long will it take before complete anarchy ensues? We are encouraging pastors everywhere to earnestly preach the Truth of God’s Word and that freedom can only survive – when people do as William Penn made clear right here in Pennsylvania – ‘Self govern their own actions according to the Commands of God.’ The answers to our problems are not political. They are in every way spiritual and that starts with recognizing the Absolute Truth of God’s Word.”

Attorney General’s Refusal to Enforce PA Marriage Protection Law Tarnishes Integrity, Encourages Lawlessness

PHILADELPHIA – Last week, Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane, announced that she refused to defend the state against a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn Pennsylvania’s ban on same-sex marriage.

Within hours of Attorney General Kane’s statement, Sam Rohrer, President of the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network denounced her position as “not only a clear dereliction of her duty as our state’s Attorney General, but a volitional attack on the integrity of the family in PA.”

Rohrer now goes further by saying, “This activist decision by AG Kane is an example of the type of lawless action by government officials encouraged by the Obama administration’s Executive Branch with its unlawful refusal to defend DOMA, and the US Supreme Court’s illegitimate ruling against DOMA and California’s Prop 8. The refusal to fulfill constitutional obligations and duties that comprise the very underpinnings of the constitutional oath of office is the very essence of tyranny and must be opposed by all those who love liberty. When our highest elected governmental officials declare themselves to be above the law they do not just tarnish their own integrity, they actually cultivate the spirit of lawlessness among the citizens. I urge those in office to understand the gravity of their actions and for the sake of liberty, to uphold the law.”

SCOTUS Now Leads the Pack in Struggle for Tyrannical Power

PHILADELPHIA – Last Wednesday, the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the Federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), and also caused Proposition 8 to be invalidated, thereby ruling against the majority of California voters.

While Wednesday’s rulings did not impose the sweeping redefinition of marriage that gay activists were seeking, it did fling the doors wide open to a whole new wave of lawsuits seeking to do just that. Caught in the crosshairs of the national debate over marriage laws are the religious freedoms of all Americans, but particularly those who hold to a Biblical worldview.

Many Christians and conservatives believe that the decision, while not unexpected, is nonetheless highly troublesome for America, feeling that the form of government which was established to undergird and guard Americans’ rights and freedoms will not survive much longer if acts like last week’s continue unchecked. They summarize the Court’s decision as nothing less than judicial tyranny.

According to Sam Rohrer, President of the Pennsylvania Pastor’s Network, the Court committed three major acts of defiance. He states, “First, five Supreme Court Justices defiled their Constitutional oath by declaring supremacy over the Executive and Legislative Branch by ruling null and void a legitimate and lawful act of Congress (DOMA) signed by President Clinton. By so doing, they have challenged the authority of Congress and violated the Separation of Powers. If Congress does not swiftly respond, they will condone this act of tyranny and become complicit in it. Secondly, they defied the Constitutional concept of state sovereignty, the citizens of California and all American citizens by declaring unconstitutional a legitimate act of the people through constitutional referendum. By recognizing the illegitimate actions of the California court, they sidestepped creating an immediate constitutional crisis by attacking the 10th Amendment directly, but accomplished the same thing. Finally, they denounced God Himself by declaring that God’s definition of marriage is not absolute. As such, the Court, just like shifting tectonic plates underneath the ocean, have set in motion a series of tsunamis that could destroy our Constitutional republic.”

Although some claim that the Court simply returned the issue of defining marriage to the states, this is up for critical debate. What many say is that the Supreme Court actually ruled that the people of any individual state have no power to create and enact their own laws. This ruling can be described as nothing less than judicial tyranny, and should enrage all Americans who cherish their right to vote, regardless of religion, race, or creed.

Also, in striking down DOMA, which many say did nothing to hamper or govern the individual states in their laws concerning marriage, but simply defined, for federal purposes, what marriage means when written into federal statues, the Court essentially ruled that Congress does not possess the ability to define for itself the terms within the laws it creates, yet every governing body at every level of society does exactly that. This ruling creates a precedent that grants the Court unlimited power to randomly create and define whichever words it wants in whatever way it wants, regardless of the intent of Congress or any other governing body when it seeks to define its own terms. When combined with the refusal of the Federal Executive Branch to defend DOMA and the California Executive branch to defend Prop 8, the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision should awaken all Americans to the threat that exists to their most cherished freedoms and the strength of any current law they look to protect.

The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network is a group of biblically faithful clergy and church liaisons whose objective is to build a permanent infrastructure of like-minded clergy who affirm the authority of Scripture, take seriously Jesus’ command to be the “salt and light” to the culture, encourage informed Christian thinking about contemporary social issues; examine public policy issues without politicizing their pulpits and engage their congregations in taking part in our political process on a non-partisan basis.

The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network website continues to offer a wealth of resources to pastors to help them equip their congregations to live a Christian life, from sermon notes to corporate prayers for our nation, to resources for laypeople, covering everything from preparation to finances.

THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE TEXT: JOHN 8:32

“Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”

AN OUTLINE FOR THE MESSAGE

I. THE RECOGNITION OF TRUTH
“Ye Shall Know the Truth”

  • Truth can be recognized
    • It is not hidden
    • It is not vague
    • It is not abstract
  • Truth can be recognized by anyone wanting to know the truth
    • It is not selective
    • It is not restrictive
    • It is not a respecter of persons
  • Truth can be recognized by anyone who abides in the Word of God
“If you continue in my word, then are you my disciples in deed.” (Verse 31)

    • To those who experience salvation in Christ alone
    • To those who endure in the study of Christ’s word

II. THE REALITY OF TRUTH
“The Truth”

  • The Truth is Absolute
    • It is Perfect
    • It is Complete
    • It is Whole
    • It is Unchangeable
  • The Truth is Absolute in Jesus Christ
    • Jesus Christ is the only source of truth
    • Jesus Christ is the full expression of truth
  • The Truth is Absolute in Jesus Christ because He alone is truth
    • Christ is ALL truth
    • All truth is Christ

WHAT IS TRUTH?
(Some observations)

  • Truth originates in Christ alone, is communicated through scripture alone and is embraced by Christians alone.
  • Truth is found only in Christianity because only Christianity is true.
  • Truth is all that Christ is as revealed in the inspired Word of God.
  • Truth is manifested to the world through the lives of the genuine followers of Christ who obey Him completely and apply His teachings consistently.
  • Truth is only truth as it maintains the complete principles of Christ.

III. THE RESULT OF TRUTH
“The truth shall make you free”
NOTE: The English word “make” comes from the Greek word “eleutheroo” which means “to liberate,” or “to make free.”

  • The Truth Makes one Free from Spiritual Bondage
    • The Power of Truth is Found in Jesus Christ Alone
    • The Power of Truth Found in Jesus Christ Alone Frees the Believer from the Bondage of Sin which is the True Nature of Salvation. (Salvation is “the deliverance from sin, its power, its penalty and its Presence through faith in Jesus Christ alone).
  • The Truth Makes on Free from Political Bondage

The practice of the principles of truth as found in Christ alone, results in freedom from governmental oppression. If the principles of Christ are applied consistently by government then the citizens of the nation will experience genuine freedom. However, if the principles of Christ are not applied consistently or even rejected by government then the citizens of the nation will not experience genuine freedom. The pure history of the United States of America proves that the founders believed in the principles of Christ, followed the truth of Christ in framing the nation, and as a result, God raised up a nation to honor Him. In our time earnest efforts made by God’s people to practice and proclaim the principles and truth of Christ will be used by the Lord to restore America to the original intent.

CONCLUSION
The applied truth of God changes the lives of those who believe it. Since the church of the living God is the “pillar and ground of the truth” (1 Timothy 3:15), the people of God have the responsibility to dedicate their lives to learning more of God’s truth daily, living God’s truth daily and proclaiming God’s truth daily. God will honor and bless His truth. Let’s “speak the truth in love,” make it our personal conviction and then watch God work for His glory.
