American Pastors Network President Sam Rohrer Statement on SCOTUS ruling in Coach Kennedy Case

-News Release

Throughout history, Americans have affirmed faith in God inside private and very public spaces. From the opening of legislative sessions and the inaugurations of every president and governor, to proclamations requesting silent prayer during war and natural disasters, expressions of faith recognize the limits of human strength.

Today’s decision affirming the right of a high school football coach, Joseph Kennedy, to invite players to participate in voluntary prayer was not an endorsement of specific expressions of faith but an affirmation of the right to believe and the freedom to express those beliefs without fear or penalty.

We call on America’s pastors to help congregations rediscover the importance of true prayer and dependence on God. This moment offers a signal to deepen, or even begin, a personal relationship with the Creator and gives every pastor and church leader a reason for new earnestness in prayer.

Overall, we urge Christians nationwide to pray for all those in authority to allow believers to live “quiet and peaceable” lives while we work for the peace of our communities and nation.

Today’s historic Supreme Court decision signals to every American the right to acknowledge the God-given, constitutionally guaranteed right to acknowledge God in every area of their life and work.

The American Pastors Network is the first and largest national network of Bible-believing pastors committed to teaching and applying biblical principles as the moral compass and source of truth for all matters of life. APN encourages civic responsibility and impacts the culture for Christ.
