… And He Shall Have Them in Derision.
On May 20, 2014, US District Judge John E. Jones III, in his official ruling on the lawsuit against the Pennsylvania Marriage Law, exhibited great satisfaction in making Pennsylvania the next in line to declare the historical definition of marriage unconstitutional. His exact words were, “Today, certain citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are not guaranteed the right to marry the person they love.…” He went on to say, ‘We now join the twelve federal district courts across the country which, when confronted with these inequities in their own states, have concluded that all couples deserve equal dignity in the realm of civil marriage.” As he proceeded to justify his decision, he quoted phrases from traditional wedding vows such as: ‘for better, for worse’, ‘for richer, for poorer’, ‘in sickness and in health’, ‘till death do us part’. Not unexpectedly, he omitted any reference to God – the author of marriage. He went on to diminish the value of the traditional family unit of a father, mother and children, and he ignored the historical and societal facts which demonstrate the superiority and stability of a father and mother in the home.
In the concluding sentence of the ruling, we find the most obvious proof of the audacity of this judge and others who seemingly want to rewrite God’s laws and history itself. The ruling states, “We are a better people than these laws represent, and it’s time to discard them into the ash heap of history.” My friends, when I read this arrogant statement, a verse in Psalm Chapter 2 came to mind: “Why do the heathen rage and people imagine a vain thing? The authorities of the earth set themselves and the rulers take counsel against the LORD… saying, Let us throw off these moral constraints placed upon us by God. But, He that sits in the heavens shall laugh and have them in derision.” No judge, no king, no President, no Governor, shall cast God’s laws and His standards into the ‘ash heap of history’ without grave consequence. Wake up, America. Wake up, American Christian.

we have to remember something God said. we are to be tolerant of those that are different and not judge. He is the only judge in these matters. these people should not be married in a church since it is against God, but we are not to judge them. is God testing our obedience by allowing this to happen to see if we are tolerant or judgemental? I am against it but my God will judge them and render punishment and I’m just supposed to try to help them turn around but not condemn them.
I also want to add that marriage is the joining of one man and one woman in the eyes of God in His church. if these people insist on being joined they have to do it before a judge or mayor, etc. which makes it a civil union. this judge is citing the constitution so in it there is separation of church and state. the state cannot force the church to marry them so they are not married according to Gods law. the problem is will churches stand up to pressure or worry about repercussions? like the government, you should not be able to sue a church for it’s beliefs.
Mr. Rohrer, I agree with you ! May God forgive our nation. Stand up for the word of God you Christans.
I commend you for urging Governor Corbett to appeal the same-sex marriage case. I sent him an email urging him to. I am one of the lawyers who have filed an amicus curiae brief in support of traditional marriage. I have filed my brief in federal appeals courts that are deciding whether the traditional marriage laws (laws defining marriage as the union of a man and woman) in Kentucky, Michigan, and Virginia are constitutional. I argue that those laws are constitutional. I was hoping to file one in the Pennsylvania case if Governor Corbett appeals it to the Third Circuit, but so far he has no appealed it. I argue that federal courts should not force same-sex marriage upon states that are against it. Some people asked me to expand on what I say in my brief and write it in the form of a book, so that the general public, not just lawyers and judges, can read what I have to say. So I wrote a book. It is entitled A Commitment to Stay Gay: Why a Liberal Guy is Against Same-sex Marriage. I invite you to read it. You can read it for $2.99 on Amazon Kindle. If you like it, I hope you will recommend it to others. Here is a link to it.
