Return to God Sunday 2026
/0 Comments/in Blog /by News RoomIn 2021, following the release of Sam Rohrer’s compelling fictional work, A Letter to America, we were struck by a sobering realization: if God’s people truly embraced the message it conveyed, a response would be necessary. That realization gave birth to what has now become a growing movement—Return to God.
When we speak of returning to God, we are calling believers to recognize where spiritual drift has occurred and to respond with humility and renewed devotion. Many hearts still carry embers of faith, but they are in need of the Holy Spirit’s breath to once again ignite a vibrant passion for Christ.
Since that first year, the American Pastors Network has encouraged churches to set aside a Sunday early in the year to intentionally lead their congregations in reflection, repentance, and recommitment to Jesus Christ. We believe such a focus cultivates a deeper hunger for God’s Word, richer worship, greater engagement in the life of the church, a renewed urgency for evangelism, and a more earnest commitment to prayer.
This year’s theme reminds us of an essential truth: when we truly consider who God is—His holiness, faithfulness, and worthiness—our hearts are naturally drawn to return to Him.
We invite you to join us on February 1, 2026, for a day of prayer and fasting, followed by a week of encouragement through a specially prepared daily devotional designed for you and your congregation.
