American Pastors Network President Sam Rohrer Set to Speak at National March for Marriage

June 19 Event Also Marks 30-Day Deadline for Gov. Corbett to Appeal Judge’s Decision on Same-Sex Marriage in PA

PHILADELPHIA—Former Pennsylvania state legislator and American Pastors Network President Sam Rohrer will be a featured speaker at the Annual March for Marriage in Washington, D.C., on June 19.
Rohrer, who also serves as president of the Pennsylvania Pastors Network (PPN, www.papastors.net), a state chapter affiliate of APN (www.americanpastorsnetwork.net), says the event will be an important gathering of those who support traditional marriage between one man and one woman.
“Thursday’s March for Marriage in Washington, D.C., will be an overwhelming call for the protection of marriage between one man and one woman throughout the nation,” said Rohrer. “Our nation has fallen off the moral cliff by allowing unelected, activist judges to toss out the rule of law in an attempt to obliterate God’s definition of marriage, which is unequivocally and unquestionably the union of one man and one woman.
“Specifically in Pennsylvania—where an unelected federal judge took it upon himself to discard the will of Pennsylvania voters as expressed through our duly elected state legislators, and, even more disturbing, took it upon himself arrogantly to say God’s law is fit for the ‘ash heap of history’—we call on Gov. Corbett to reconsider his decision not to appeal the recent ruling overturning our state’s Defense of Marriage Act. The governor will see thousands of marriage supporters marching in Washington—Americans who are passionate about traditional, biblical marriage and about the rule of law. We hope the physical presence of these committed individuals, standing for truth, will help open the eyes of decision-makers and leaders around the country.”
June 19 marks the 30-day deadline for Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett to appeal the May 20 decision from Judge John Jones III, which struck down the state’s Defense of Marriage Act, paving the way for same-sex marriage in Pennsylvania.
The March for Marriage rally begins at 11 a.m. at the U.S. Capitol and will feature additional speakers including such as Mike Huckabee, former Governor of Arkansas and nationally syndicated TV and radio host; Rick Santorum, founder of Patriot Voices and former Pennsylvania Senator; Brian Brown, President of the National Organization for Marriage; Jennifer Marshall, Vice President for the Institute for Family, Community and Opportunity at the Heritage Foundation; and Austin Nimocks, Senior Legal Counsel for Alliance Defending Freedom.
After the rally at 1 p.m., participants will march from the Capitol to the U.S. Supreme Court. Then at 2:30 p.m., the March for Marriage Lobby Day will commence, where participants will meet with their legislators to voice their opinions on protecting marriage. To register, visit https://www.marriagemarch.org/lobbyday-register. March for Marriage organizers will send packets of information to those committed to meet with lawmakers during the lobby.
The day will conclude with the First Annual National Organization for Marriage Gala, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with a reception and continuing at 7:30 p.m. with dinner and speakers at the Willard Intercontinental Hotel, 1401 Pennsylvania Avenue NW in Washington, D.C.
The keynote speaker for the Gala will be Dr. Benjamin Carson, world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon, inspiring storyteller, New York Times best-selling author, syndicated columnist and FOX News contributor. Also speaking at the Gala will be Brown and National Organization for Marriage Chairman Emeritus Robert P. George.

This month, APN has been encouraging pastors throughout the nation to preach on marriage in the coming weeks, in the wake of two judges striking down marriage defense acts in Pennsylvania and Oregon, respectively. Same-sex marriage is now legal in 19 states and the District of Columbia.
