Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network Urges Pastors to Commit to Defend Marriage in PA
PHILADELPHIA—The Pennsylvania Pastors’ Network (PPN, www.papastors.net) is encouraging pastors from around the state to commit to protect marriage in Pennsylvania through PPN’s new Marriage Defense Initiative.
The new initiative is designed to not only protect marriage but to promote healthy, stable, traditional marriages, to advance and enhance the marriages of Pennsylvanians, to build up Pennsylvania families, and to uphold God’s biblical design of marriage, especially as marriage is attacked from all angles in society.
“Marriage is hanging in the balance in Pennsylvania,” said Sam Rohrer, President of PPN and the American Pastors’ Network (APN, www.AmericanPastorsNetwork.net). “The attack on marriage in Pennsylvania is real. Next year will mark an enormous effort to redefine marriage. The assault is now in the courts and will soon move to the legislature. PPN is urging our state’s pastors to ‘Stand in the Gap,’ in every county across the Commonwealth. We must equip the Church to stand strong on this fundamental issue upon which families are built. Marriage is between one man and one woman as Pennsylvania’s Defense of Marriage Act states. We need committed pastors who are not afraid to speak this truth to their congregants and who will help us to fight the homosexual agenda to normalize same-sex marriage.”
PPN’s goal is to have at least one pastor from each of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties be a leader in his or her local community and champion the Marriage Defense Initiative.
Continued Rohrer in a recent letter to pastors, “We have many issues for which we must stand, but one most important area is the defense of God’s design for marriage. The attack on God’s model for family is intense. There are few things more important than defending God’s design for the family and marriage, as it was God’s method to fulfill the command to take dominion and to bring redemption through Jesus Christ.”
